United Road Services is an auto transport service is located in Romulus. They annually ship over three million cars throughout the United States and into Canada as well.
Kalitta Air
Kalitta Air’s global headquarters are located at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti Township. Though founded in 2000, owner Conrad Kalitta started in the air cargo business in 1967 with a twin-engine Cessna, since growing into a full air cargo service with a fleet of 22 B747 freighters.
Penske Logistics
Penske Logistics is one of several companies that form the Penske Corporation formed by auto-racing legend Roger Penske in 1969. The Romulus location provides a complete line of transportation and distribution services.
Load One Transport
Headquarted in Taylor, Load One Transport, has grown to one the largest companies in the Aerotropolis with over $90 million in annual revenue. Load One offers a variety of services that include, ground expedite, truckload dry van, specialized flatbed, air charter, air freight, and third party carrier services.

A global logistics supply chain solutions provider, Active Aero Group was founded in 1996 and is headquartered at Willow Run Airport. Active On-Demand and USA Jet Airlines are divisions of Active Aero, all part complete air and road logistics services.

Allied Van Lines is an industry leading logistics and moving company. The Romulus location provides a complete line of services including household, moving, and corporate moving.
FedEx Freight
FedEx Freight offers complete shipping solutions from Detroit Metro Airport, including FedEx Freight Priority when you need something to get to its destination quickly. They also offer shipping services to Mexico and Canada.
Watson Engineering
Watson Engineering is a metal fabrication services company situated in Taylor. They have been around since 1981 and have expert capabilities in laser cutting, fabrication, stamping, CNC machining, and more.
The Oakwood Group
The Oakwood Group is a manufacturing company in Taylor. Started in 1945 as Oakwood Industries, the company recently announced a $5.2 million expansion to create over 50 jobs. One of the first manufactured products they made was a water pump that was supplied to Ford Motor Company.
GM Powertrain
The Romulus GM Powertrain plan employs over 300 people, and is currently retooling to build all-new V6 engines and 10-speed transmissions. Since it’s founding in 1908, General Motors remains a leading OEM with a dozen automotive brands.
Huron Valley Steel Corp.
A leader in the recycling industry since 1961, Huron Valley Steel Corp. is located in Van Buren Township. They process around a billion pounds of material annually that come from automobile shredder operators.

General Electric, or GE, formed a Digital Hub location in Van Buren Township in 2009, and has recently announced the hiring of over 300 people over the next two years! This facility’s expertise in all things digital is a crucial part of the global digital industrial company that has products and services that range from aircraft engines to medical imaging.
